Description

Time-lapse animation created from 487 recordings between 10:02 and 14:11UT on August 25th 2022. Each recording was 20 seconds long with a framerate of 30fps (600 frames) and a 10 seconds delay between each recording. The recordings where made using  Coronado 60mm/BF15 w/Beloptik ITF, stopped down to 50mm, Baader 35nm H-Alpha and ZWO ASI 178mm, which gives a focal-length of 400mm and a sampling of 1.24" per pixel.

Everything was mounted on a Sky-Watcher SolarQuest AltAz mount.

The best (sharpest) 200 frames from each recording was stacked in AutoStakkert!3 before they were aligned, sharpened in ImPPG and contrast-stretched and blackened disk in Adobe Photshop.

The animation was created in PIPP at 20 fps effectively compressing the 4 hour 9 minutes of duration down to 22 seconds.

However, a few frames had to be tossed due to passing clouds making the animation jump at a few locations. The field rotation is because the sequence was recorded in AltAz mode.
